Pradeep Maharana started his career at Leopold’s Cafe in Mumbai in 1992, when music was played on cassettes and vinyl, and there were only a handful of DJs in the whole of India. Maharana went on to play at Tiger Tims, Piano Bar, Velocity, and Waves before heading to Kolkata in the late 90s to kick start the music scene.  There, he held residencies at some of the city’s most legendary clubs, including Anticlock at the Hotel Hindustan International, London Pub, Cloud 9, and Tantra at The Park Hotel. He also played at some of the biggest events and clubs across India, and Bhutan.

In addition to being one of the pioneering DJs of the Indian electronic music scene, Maharana has turned his talents to production. In 2011, Maharana’s remix of Ash Roy’s Can Also Can was released on Elektrotribe Records (Germany). His first EP, titled Hipnotic, was released on Kroton Recordings (Germany) in 2012. He followed this up with his second EP, titled Silent Attack, on India’s premier techno label Soupherb Records in 2013. It climbed to number 25 on the Beatport Techno chart. Soupherb Records considers Maharana to be one of the most exciting producers to watch out for. Most recently, Maharana collaborated with Decode Blue and Arnold From Mumbai under his techno moniker, Taktixx. The tracks were released on ODN Records (France).

As a DJ, Maharana’s eclectic style moves through genres including house, techno, funk, breaks, and old skool. Currently, he’s a resident DJ at Bonobo in Mumbai.
